Who We Are

Esprit

[eh-spree]  |  "Spirit" in French

Esprit is a Company for beginning dancers who love to dance and want to improve quicker than they could in individual classes. Esprit dancers should already be able to display the basics of dance technique including moving on beat, kicks, plies and counting music. They learn Company dances which they will perform throughout the year at various performances.

Students are taught what it means to be on a Company: teamwork, positive attitude, supporting one another, coming to all classes and being on time, etc.… Esprit Company is an absolute pleasure to teach because they're eager to learn, dance together, and perform

Those on Esprit Company are required to take two hours of specifically chosen genres of dance a week. The required classes are a combined Ballet 5 & Tap 1 class, and a combined "Company" & Turns  5 class where they learn jazz and contemporary company dances and work on their technique. Many who want to accelerate their learning or have goals of becoming more well-rounded will take additional classes that are offered. Other classes they are welcome to take include extra ballet and turns, hip-hop, and tumbling classes. Private lessons are also offered upon request.

Expectations

Being on a Corner Dance Company shares the same expectations that come with being on virtually any team. Company members are expected to attend all classes, be on time, and be both physically and emotionally prepared to work hard each practice without ego. Company members are friendly, kind, and helpful to their peers; respectful to teachers, and understand the important role they play on their company.

Performing company will have extra, mandatory performances throughout the year. We will also attend up to two conventions each year as a team including performing at Tuacahn every other year! More information and detailed "Team Expectations" are available in the Parent Portal.
