Etoile

[ay-twall]  |  "Star" in French

The Etoile Company is for beginners (but experienced) dancers who love to dance. Etoile dancers should come with some dance technique including walking on beat, kicks, plie, pointed feet, and an awareness of their body and arms. They learn company dances which they will perform throughout the year. In class they will work on strengthening their technique and building upon the foundation of dance they currently have. Etoile Company is a year-long commitment.

Students are taught what it means to be on a Company: teamwork, positive attitude, being able to support one another, coming to all classes and being on time, etc.… We love teaching this Etoile Company and love to see them grow exponentially as they work together as a team to accomplish great things.

Those on Etoile Company are required to take three hours of specifically chosen genres of dance a week. The required classes are Ballet 6, Turns 6/Jazz and Tap 5. Many who want to accelerate their learning or have goals of becoming more well-rounded will take additional classes that are offered. Other classes they are welcome to take include extra ballet and turns, hip-hop, and tumbling classes. Private lessons are also offered upon request.

Expectations

Being on a Corner Dance Company shares the same expectations that come with being on virtually any team. Company members are expected to attend all classes, be on time, and be both physically and emotionally prepared to work hard each practice without ego. Company members are friendly, kind, and helpful to their peers; respectful to teachers, and understand the important role they play on their company.

Performing company will have extra, mandatory performances throughout the year. We will also attend up to two conventions each year as a team including performing at Tuacahn every other year!
